May 11, 2021, Adrian, Michigan – Lisa Schell, Archivist for the Adrian Dominican Sisters, was one of several Archivists of congregations of U.S. women religious interviewed for a recent Global Sisters Report article on their efforts to preserve materials on the COVID-19 pandemic. Archivist for the Congregation since 2018, Lisa also spoke of her efforts to preserve the General Council’s statements and the social justice activities of the Sisters, including Black Lives Matter. April 23, 2021, McAllen and San Antonio, Texas – Adrian Dominican Sisters Nancy Murray, OP, and Mary Jane Lubinski, OP, are among 200 Catholic Sisters who are now serving immigrants who have come across the U.S.-Mexico border seeking a new home with family members and friends in the United States. They are responding to a request for help from Catholic Charities USA and the Leadership Conference of Women Religious and will eventually be joined in their volunteer service on the border by other Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Sister Nancy – taking a break during the pandemic from her ministry of portraying St. Catherine of Siena at parishes and other venues around the world – is serving at the Catholic Charities Humanitarian Respite Center in McAllen, Texas. Sister Mary Jane, on sabbatical after seven years of leadership service with the Adrian Dominican Sisters, is working in San Antonio, Texas, with teenage boys who have come across the border.

Adrian Dominican Sister Donna Markham, OP, PhD, President and CEO of Catholic Charities USA, recently made her own visit to the border near El Centro, California, to see first-hand the immigration crisis at the border.
