April 27, 2019, Santa Cruz, California – Sister Mary Ellen Leciejewski, OP, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility for Dignity Health, notes in a special Earth Day article in National Catholic Reporter that the hospitals in her health care system are focusing on their responsibility to be good stewards of natural resources. Sister Mary Ellen has long been in the forefront of ecological efforts at Dignity Health, now part of CommonSpirit Health since the merger of Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives in February 2019. Sister Mary Ellen, I would very much love to discuss an innovative product my company American Protective Products has that will be of great benefit to our landfills. As you know waste from Nitrile gloves used in hospitals puts a huge strain on our landfills. Some companies have come up with recycling efforts which are relatively ineffective, cost time money and more resources. Our biodegradable Nitrile gloves solve this problem by dissolving in any landfill in 2 years vs 100 plus years for a regular glove. We have supporting documentation for the strength of the gloves as well as real time testing for the biodegradability. Our goal is to remove 100 tons of none biodegradable gloves from our landfills and believe Dignity would be a great partner in that goal.
