Meet Our Sisters Tour: The Adrian Dominican Sisters

The Adrian Dominican Sisters are based in Adrian, Michigan, but their ministries and sponsored institutions are found across the entire U.S. and in the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, and Norway. We have had a rich presence in Illinois for over 100 years.

Ministries

Prominent ministries in Chicago today include the Aquinas Literacy Center (one of seven literacy centers we sponsor) and St. Leonard's Place - see the videos to the right for more about these amazing programs. Our Sisters have also ministered at St. Kateri Center of Chicago and Southwest Chicago Homeless Services.

Discernment - Come and See!

If you are a woman discerning religious life, our Congregation provides many resources, including a weekly discernment blog (A Sister Reflects) and a chance to visit our Motherhouse for a "Come and See" weekend to learn about religious life.

We offer several video resources:

We are hosting a Come and See weekend in Michigan November 11-13, 2023. Contact our Vocations Team at vocations@adriandominicans.org or (517) 266-3532 for further information or with any questions.

Schools

The Adrian Dominican Sisters founded Regina Dominican High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Wilmette. In the fall of 2023, we transferred sponsorship of this school to Dominican Veritas Ministries, to ensure a legacy of excellence in Dominican education. Rosarian Academy, our preK-8 school in West Palm Beach, Florida, also became part of Dominican Veritas Ministries.

Our Sisters staffed many other schools in Illinois, including:

  • Mount St. Mary Academy in Chicago (opened 1907)
  • Aquinas High School in Chicago (opened 1915)
  • Bishop Quarter Military Academy in Chicago (opened 1917)
  • Bishop Mulroon High School in Rockford (opened 1933)

More information about some of these schools can be found on our history page and on our page for alumnae/alumni

Our Congregation also sponsors Barry University (Miami Shores, Florida), and Siena Heights University (Adrian, Michigan).
