April 20, 2023, Adrian, Michigan – The Adrian Dominican Sisters will take a significant and exciting step in their efforts to “address the cry of Earth” at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, when they dedicate and bless the campus solar array, which is now fully operational.
The public is welcome to Solar Array Dedication and Blessing, which will include brief talks and a blessing of the solar panel system. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Regina residence, farthest East on Siena Heights Drive, which is recognizable by its solar panel covered carport and electric vehicle charging stations. Those who wish also have the opportunity to view the 1,110-panel solar array installed in the north field of the Motherhouse Campus.
Joel Henricks, Director of Facilities and Grounds, estimated that the solar panels – both in the field and on top of the Regina car port – will provide about a quarter of the Motherhouse’s annual usage of power.
The Solar Array is one of the Adrian Dominican Congregation’s responses to commitment to “address the cry of Earth and the cry of the poor.”
