New Book by Sister Janet Schaeffler, OP, Offers First Communion Activities for Families

July 31, 2020, Detroit, Michigan – Sister Janet Schaeffler, OP, author and speaker on religious education and adult faith formation, released her most recent book, We Gather Together, through Twenty-Third Publications. 

Sister Janet Schaeffler, OP

We Gather Together is designed to guide both parish religious educators and parents to offer meaningful experiences to children preparing for their First Communion. Sister Janet includes prayers and activities to teach children about topics such as the Mass, the Eucharist as thanksgiving, and God’s love. She also guides parents as they continue the lessons that their children learn in formal religious education classes. 

A retreat leader and a consultant for catechists and adult faith formation leaders, Sister Janet also once served as Director of Adult Faith Formation for the Archdiocese of Detroit. She is a recipient the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL) Distinguished Service Award.

Sister Janet has written numerous books and resources for catechists, including Spirituality for Catechists and The Creed: A Catechist’s Guide. She also writes annual Advent reflection booklets.
