September 25, 2026, Flint, Michigan – During her Diamond (60-year) Jubilee Year, Sister Carol Weber, OP, was recognized for her 60 years of community service – with about half of those years in Flint, Michigan, as Co-founder and Co-Director of St. Luke’s N.E.W. Life Center with Sister Judy Blake, CSJ. Through services ranging from a food pantry to a sewing co-op, employment preparation, and a literacy center, the Center offers training and skills to help the women, men, and children lead self-sufficient lives.
In the broadcast interview, Sister Carol tells Ta’Niyah Jordan of ABC 12 WJRT about how meeting the needs of a woman giving birth in an abandoned building led her and Sister Judy to start the N.E.W.
