May 22, 2019[CANCELED - WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR A FUTURE DATE!] Using a combination of mindfulness, yoga, reflection, and presentations on neuroscience and spirituality, Anne Kertz Kernion presents a mini-retreat, Spirituality and Science, at Weber Retreat and Conference Center. The retreat is offered from 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 through 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019.

The founder of Cards by Anne, an inspirational greeting card company, Anne draws on her expertise in science and theology to inform and enrich the daily lives of retreatants, especially their spiritual practices. A certified yoga instructor and meditation practitioner, Anne also holds degrees in science and theology and has taught courses in chemistry, environmental science, and world religions.

The cost is $40 for commuters, $75 per person for double occupancy, and $125 single occupancy. Limited scholarships are available.

January 29, 2019, Adrian, Michigan – The first of three talks in the Siena Series programs by faculty members of Siena Heights University’s Religious Studies Department begins at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Weber Retreat and Conference Center

The topics include:

  • “The Bible Says What?” Tuesday, February 5, 2019 – Professor Ian Bell explores issues raised by scriptural stories about women and shows how re-examining those stories can serve as a resource for the Church.

  • “The Problem with Providence” Thursday, March 7, 2019 – Noting the common Christian belief in divine providence and the belief by some that God’s plan is not going well these days, Assistant Professor Wendy Crosby helps participants to understand how that providence might be leading them into action.

  • “Catholicism in Crisis: Abuse, Accountability and Aspiration” Wednesday, March 20, 2019 – Professor Joe Raab takes a look at the sexual abuse crisis, the response to the crisis within the leadership of the Catholic Church, and how to move forward.
