(1920 – 2015) There has never existed a greater American patriot than this small, quiet German girl with the fiery red hair and large dark blue eyes. After finding employment as a waitress, she struck out on her own.
Sister Catherine Podvin began her autobiography with this tribute to her mother, Marie Magdalena Danziesen, whom she described as “a practical, cautious, frugal” person who traveled alone to the United States at the age of sixteen. More about Sister Catherine Podvin (pdf)
