(1923 – 2015) Elaine Frances Lederer, known as Sister Joseph Loretta, was born in Chicago on December 2, 1923, the youngest of three children born to her Jewish parents, Arnold and Camille (Pick) Lederer. Her father worked in his father’s business and later worked in Washington, DC, as a representative lobbyist for manufacturers.
