(1942 – 2015) Sister Susan Marie Ouwerkerk was born on May 8, 1942, the only child of Arnold Ouwerkerk from Leyden, Holland, the Netherlands, and Edna Irene Anderson, from Bay City, Michigan. After trying for ten years to have a child, her parents had gone to see Father Solanus who blessed her mother and said she would bear one child. After Susan’s birth her father became a Catholic because he believed they needed to be united in faith as a family. More about Sister Marie Ouwerkerk (pdf)

I was in Susan's crowd and she came to visit me at Rosarian Academy in 1981. I have corresponded with her at Christmas every year since that time. I just read in the latest brochure that I got from Adrian that she had died. I know she is in a better place because she suffered a long time. Peace, my friend!Carole Daugherty
nice post thank you for sharing
Our Adrian Dominican cemetery with its circular headstones is a beautiful place of rest for women who gave their lives in service to God — and a peaceful place for contemplation and remembrance.
