August 28, 2017, Adrian, Michigan – At a time when drug addiction is rampant throughout the nation, Weber Retreat and Conference Center is hosting a Drug Education Series to provide attendees with the education needed to prevent or address drug addiction issues. The Drug Education Series will be offered from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays in the Weber auditorium. The three-part series is organized as follows.

  • Monday, September 11, 2017: Carl Christensen, an addiction doctor practicing in Ann Arbor, will speak on “Addiction, Medicine, and Pain.” His talk will focus on addiction treatment from a medical perspective.

  • Monday, September 18, 2017: Andrew Hoeft, a substance abuse counselor, and Lt. Aaron Hunt of the Drug Unit of the Michigan State Police, will speak on “Drug Abuse in the Community and Finding the Best Treatment.” Their talk will center on the prevalence of drug use in the community and the role of law enforcement. 

  • Monday, September 25, 2017: Film presentation, Pleasure Unwoven: An Explanation of the Brain Disease of Addiction. This 70-minute documentary by Kevin T. McCauley explores the understanding of addiction as a disease.

The Drug Education Series is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

The Weber Center is on the campus of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian. Enter the Eastern-most driveway of the complex and follow the signs to Weber Center. For information, call the Weber Center at 517-266-4000.
