March 27, 2026, Adrian, Michigan – Siena Heights University is providing a comprehensive academic update to ensure that all students, alumni, and stakeholders have clear guidance and support as the institution prepares to conclude operations following the 2025–2026 academic year.

As part of this transition, Siena Heights is committed to maintaining academic continuity and student success through a wide range of transfer and teach-out opportunities, as well as clear processes for accessing transcripts and diplomas.

Student-Centered Academic Pathways
All currently enrolled students have access to a defined academic pathway aligned with their program of study. The University has secured 53 transfer pathways and 18 teach-out agreements, ensuring that:

  • Each academic program has designated continuation options.
  • Students can transition seamlessly into comparable programs.
  • Individual academic progress is preserved to the greatest extent possible.

These pathways ensure that all students have an option available that aligns with their chosen field of study, reinforcing the University’s commitment to student success through completion. Siena Heights University encourages all students to work closely with academic advisors to review their personalized options and timelines.

“Our highest priority throughout this transition has been ensuring that every Siena Heights student has a clear and well-supported pathway to complete their degree,” said Dr. Julie M. Barst, Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. “We have worked diligently to build a wide network of transfer and teach-out partnerships that honor the progress students have already made while positioning them for continued success.”

Teach-Out and Transfer Flexibility
Students will have the opportunity to select the option that best fits their needs, whether through transfer or teach-out agreements. Teach-out opportunities will extend beyond the May/June closure of Siena Heights, with many allowing students to begin their studies with a partner institution as late as January 2027. Timelines will vary by institution, so it’s important to read each agreement thoroughly.

Urgent: Secure Transcripts and Diplomas Now
Siena Heights University strongly encourages all students and alumni to request official transcripts and any replacement diplomas as soon as possible. Ordering directly through the Registrar’s Office ensures the fastest processing time and the most streamlined experience. Once the University closes and records are transferred to a third-party provider, requests will take significantly longer, require a processing fee, and may involve additional steps.

Key deadlines and details regarding transcripts and diplomas can be found on the University’s Resource Page

Commitment to Students
“I am deeply grateful to our faculty and staff for their extraordinary dedication to our students during this transition,” Julie Barst said. “They have worked tirelessly to uphold academic quality while guiding students through clear degree audits and answering questions about transfer and teach-out pathways. Our faculty and staff live the mission of Siena Heights University each day by treating every student with respect and compassion. Their hard work has made it possible for our students to move forward to their next academic home with clarity and purpose.”
