August 21, 2025, Henderson, Nevada – This year, Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican Hospitals celebrates two milestones: the 25th anniversary of the Siena Campus of the hospital system and the 78th anniversary of the founding of St. Rose Dominican by seven Adrian Dominican Sisters.
“These anniversaries aren’t just dates on a calendar,” Katherine Vergos, President of Dignity Health Las Vegas, said in a video message to employees. “They are a reflection of why we are here. It is a reflection of your dedication, of every life you’ve touched, every patient you’ve comforted, every moment of hope you’ve created. Together, we carry forward the legacy of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, ensuring that compassionate care isn’t just a mission. It’s who we are.”
Coy Raiford, Market Director of Mission Integration, said in a reflection: “In a sense, we can look forward by looking back. So today, we look back on 78 years and celebrate God’s faithfulness to St. Rose, while we also move forward, trusting him in the next 78 years.”
The Adrian Dominican Sisters purchased the original hospital – the St. Rose de Lima Campus in Henderson, Nevada – for $1 in 1947 from the U.S. government with the understanding that the Congregation would run the hospital for 25 years. The Siena Campus was built in Henderson, Nevada, in 2000, and the San Martin Campus in Las Vegas in 2006.
St. Rose Dominican also includes several neighborhood hospitals to meet the needs of local communities, as well as a community outreach program that helps local residents to remain healthy. The sponsorship of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals was transferred to CommonSpirit Health, a healthcare system created in 2019, with the alignment of Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives.
