December 1, 2023, Miami Shores, Florida – The main campus of Barry University has been named the seventh most beautiful college campus in Florida in an article published by Thetravel.com. The article by Lakeisha Ethans describes the top 10 beautiful campuses in the state.
“The meticulously landscaped grounds exude an air of tranquility, providing a serene haven for intellectual pursuits and personal growth,” Lakeisha writes. She also cites the “spacious lawn that gracefully leads to the entrance bordered by rows of carefully tended palm trees” and notes that the ambiance created by the landscape creates “a welcoming environment where students can immerse themselves in the pursuit of knowledge.”
The main campus features 122 acres of land and 54 buildings and sporting facilities. Barry University offers classes at other locations throughout Florida, including the School of Law in Orlando.
Barry College was founded in 1940 as a women’s college by Bishop Patrick Barry, Bishop of St. Augustine, and Mother Gerald Barry, Mother General of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, with the support of Monsignor William Barry and John Graves Thompson, Mayor of Miami Shores. Core commitments are knowledge and truth, social justice, inclusive community, and collaborative service. Barry University also affirms its Catholic identity and Dominican heritage.
