July 15, 2024, Las Vegas, Nevada – Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospitals is proud to announce the opening of a new Dignity Health Wellness Center in west central Las Vegas. The new facility will offer a wide variety of classes and programs to assist people of all ages to improve their health, find their focus, and strengthen their resolve.

“Our mission at Dignity Health Wellness Centers is to help people stay healthy and avoid a visit to one of our hospitals,” said Holly Lyman, Dignity Health Las Vegas Market Director of Community Health and an Adrian Dominican Associate. “Last year our six Dignity Health Wellness Centers were able to help more than 275,000 southern Nevada residents improve their health and lifestyles. With the opening of this, our seventh wellness center, we hope to extend that reach and help even more people this year.”

Completion of the Sahara Wellness Center was made possible through a $1 million grant from the City of Las Vegas, which provided funds for construction, equipment, architecture, and engineering. Dignity Health debuted the new space with a traditional St. Rose Dominican blessing of the facility and its staff.

The 3,382 square-foot facility, located near West Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard, is on the second floor of the Dignity Health Neighborhood Hospital Campus, 4980 W. Sahara Avenue. The new center features a large space for classes, fitness, and program sessions; two consultation rooms for private counseling; five staff offices; and 18 community health workstations.

“The opening of this center is a huge step forward for our community health programs,” said Mark Domingo, Dignity Health Community Health Manager and an Adrian Dominican Associate. “Our trained staff will be better able to offer free disease management programs and health navigation for local residents. Providing this type of assistance and advice can help individuals resolve barriers and address social issues that can be root causes that lead people to poor health and prevent them from overcoming it.”

Programs based at the Sahara Wellness Center will include:

•    Ryan White Part A Programs - providing medical nutrition therapy, health education, and medication therapy management for people living with HIV.
•    The Engelstad Foundation R.E.D. Rose Program - providing free breast health screenings and breast cancer treatment for uninsured or underinsured women.
•    Pathways Community HUB Program – health counseling to provide support for individuals at risk of poor outcomes and to help them overcome social and lifestyle barriers to good health.

In addition, Medicare Assistance Program counselors and Nevada Health Link Exchange enrollment facilitators will help people choose appropriate healthcare coverage.

Community health workers and program managers began Monday-Friday office hours after the Independence Day holiday. A full slate of fitness and education classes will begin in August. Find a full schedule of classes and events at all Dignity Health Wellness Centers on our website
