March 27, 2023, Wilmette, Illinois – Regina Dominican High School is proud to announce that its basketball coach, Robert Newton, has been named Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA). Not only did he have an incredible season with the Varsity Panthers, bringing home back-to-back Regional Championships with an overall 18-11 season. He also taught the student athletes valuable life skills along the way.

Coach Newton has been the Head Basketball Coach at Regina Dominican High School for 10 seasons and counting. He is also the proud parent of Regina Dominican graduate, Maeve ’21, and the husband of Meaghan, a 1986 graduate.

"We are very excited to see Coach Newton honored by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association,” said Brian Mancuso, Athletic Director. “Coach Newton has done a great job fostering a culture of success at Regina Dominican. Coach Newton and his staff are great representatives of the Regina Dominican community and teach our student-athletes life skills on and off the court."

The IBCA will honor award recipients on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State University.
