February 19, 2025, Detroit – Siena Literacy Center, founded by the Adrian Dominican Sisters in 1995, has changed with the needs of the times. Situated in Detroit’s Brightmoor neighborhood, Siena Literacy Center offers one-on-one tutoring in English as a Second Language (ESL) to a growing number of immigrants from West Africa. It also provides Adult Basic Education (ABE) tutoring to adult students whose first language is English, and GED tutoring to both groups.

The Center offers not only one-on-one tutoring but also group English classes, a community resources navigator who helps adult learners overcome obstacles to their attendance at tutoring and group sessions, and a supportive adult community for tutors and learners.
