One only needs to read through the Gospels to see what normal, flawed human beings Jesus chose to carry the message of God’s love to others. We may mistakenly think these people were extraordinary, but they weren’t. They made mistakes, were quick to judge, competed with each other for higher status, complained and, well, were just plain humans with their feet on the ground and their hearts inspired to follow the path Jesus was laying out before them.

This reminds each one of us who may be avoiding a call that keeps coming up for us that ordinary human beings are the ones God counts on to spread the word that all are loved and included where God is concerned.

If you have been weighing whether you have what it takes to follow Jesus’ call to commit your life as a member of a religious community, know that you will bring all of your humanity with you – gifts and flaws. Do not let that stop you! If you sense God is calling you, come and find out more information. It’s the only way you’ll know if it’s for you.

Seguidoras Imperfectas

Uno solo necesita leer los Evangelios para ver qué Jesús eligió seres humanos normales e imperfectos para llevar el mensaje del amor de Dios a los demás. Podemos pensar erróneamente que estas personas eran extraordinarias, pero no lo eran. Cometieron errores, se apresuraron a juzgar, competían entre sí por un estatus más alto, se quejaban y, bueno, eran simples humanos con los pies en la tierra y sus corazones inspirados para seguir el camino que Jesús les estaba trazando.

Esto nos recuerda a cada una de nosotras que quizás estemos evitando un llamado que sigue surgiendo para nosotras, que los seres humanos comunes son con quienes Dios cuenta para extender la palabra de que todas son amadas e incluidas en lo que a Dios respecta.

Si ha estado contemplando si tiene lo que se necesita para seguir el llamado de Jesús de comprometer su vida como miembra de una comunidad religiosa, sepa que traerá toda su humanidad con usted – dones y defectos. ¡No deje que eso la detenga! Si siente que Dios la está llamando, venga y obtenga más información. Es la única forma de saber si es para usted.
