This week we revisit a post from last year by Sister Maribeth.

It’s spring! Depending upon where you live, you may or may not believe that statement.

In much of the Midwest, our days have been fluctuating between unusually warm to windy and bitter cold. Still, we know, we TRUST that spring is around the corner and that within a few weeks we will find ourselves delighting in lovely spring flowers – crocus, daffodils, pansies, tulips, all in their very best array of colors.

Spring is a natural time for us to step back, sit down, and marvel at the gift of life around us and within us. If you find yourself in awe of the beauty of God’s creation that surrounds you, you might also consider looking at the beauty of your very person. A wonderful way in which to do this is to begin reading Psalm 139. Some writers have referred to this psalm as the Bible’s version of Francis Thompson’s The Hound of Heaven.

While translations of this psalm vary to some extent, each translation tends to capture the intimate knowledge that God has of each and every one of us! Consider the opening verses:

O God, you search me 
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I stand;
You understand my desires from afar.

Several verses later we read:

It was you who created my inner self,
who fashioned me in my mother’s womb.
I give you thanks for this wondrous life;
all your works are wonderful!

During this week, take some time to reflect upon how God has created you, touched you, and given you the gift of life.

Oh Dios, Tu Me Examinas y Me Conoces

Esta semana retomamos un post del año pasado de la Hermana Maribeth.

¡Es primavera! Dependiendo en dónde viva, puede ser que crea o no esa afirmación.

En gran parte del Medio Oeste, nuestros días han fluctuado entre días inusualmente cálidos o días de mucho viento y fríos. Aún así, sabemos, CONFIAMOS en que la primavera está a la vuelta de la esquina y que dentro de unas pocas semanas nos encontraremos deleitándonos con hermosas flores de primavera – azafrán, narcisos, pensamientos, tulipanes, todas en su mejor variedad de colores.

La primavera es un tiempo para que paremos, nos sentemos y nos maravillemos del regalo de la vida que nos rodea y que mora en nosotras. Si se asombra de la belleza de la creación de Dios que le rodea, también podría considerar en mirar la belleza de su propia persona. Una forma maravillosa de hacer esto es comenzar a leer el Salmo 139. Algunos escritores han describido este salmo como la versión bíblica de El Lebrel Del Cielo por Francis Thompson.

Aunque hay varias traducciones de este salmo, ¡cada traducción tiende a capturar el conocimiento íntimo que Dios tiene de cada una de nosotras! Considere los primeros versículos:

Oh Dios, me examinas 
y me conoces.
Tú sabes cuándo me siento y cuándo me levanto;
Entiendes mis deseos desde lejos.

Varios versos después leemos:

Fuiste tú quien creó mi interior,
quien me formó en el vientre de mi madre.
Te doy gracias por esta vida maravillosa;
todos tus trabajos son maravillosos!

Durante esta semana, tome tiempo para reflexionar sobre cómo Dios la ha creado, la ha tocado y le ha dado el regalo de la vida.
