One way to approach Lent is as an opportunity to reset. Sometimes we need a reset to our prayer lives, to set aside time for prayer with more intentionality. Sometimes we need a reset to our relationships and might decide to reach out to friends and family members with whom we have lost contact. And sometimes Lent is a reminder to do the thing that God has been calling us to do for some time!

Fifteen years ago, on Ash Wednesday, I made the decision to apply to an organization where I could be a full-time volunteer for a year. I had been hearing the call for a while, but Lent pushed me to gather my courage to reach out. Lent reminded me to reset my priorities and choose something that I would not have otherwise considered. For that reason, I often find myself being intentional about discernment during Lent, because I have taken Lent as an opportunity to be more open to God and God’s call in my life.

As we move into this Lenten season, I encourage you to pray with these questions:

1) Is there a call that I need to pay attention to during this Lent?

2) How am I being asked to be intentional about my relationship with God this Lent?

3) Is there something in my life that needs to be reset?

Tomarse el Tiempo para Reiniciar esta Cuaresma

Una forma de aprovechar la Cuaresma es como una oportunidad para reiniciar. A veces, necesitamos reiniciar nuestra vida de oración y reservar tiempo para la oración con más intencionalidad. A veces necesitamos reiniciar nuestras relaciones y podemos decidir acercarnos a amigos y familiares con quienes hemos perdido el contacto. ¡Y a veces la Cuaresma es un recordatorio de hacer lo que Dios nos ha estado llamando a hacer por algún tiempo!

Hace quince años, el Miércoles de Ceniza, tomé la decisión de postularme a una organización donde podría ser voluntaria de tiempo completo por un año. Había estado escuchando el llamado por un tiempo, pero la Cuaresma me dió la valentía para comunicarme. La Cuaresma me recordó que debía reiniciar mis prioridades y escoger algo que de otro modo no habría considerado. Por esa razón, muchas veces me encuentro siendo intencional en cuanto al discernimiento durante la Cuaresma, porque he tomado la Cuaresma como una oportunidad para estar más abierta a Dios y al llamado de Dios en mi vida.

Mientras nos acercamos hacia esta temporada de Cuaresma, las animo a orar con estas preguntas:

1) ¿Hay algún llamado al que debo prestar atención durante esta Cuaresma?

2) ¿Cómo se me pide que sea intencional en mi relación con Dios en esta Cuaresma?

3) ¿Hay algo en mi vida que debo reiniciar?
