(1933-2016)
Sister Anne Baxter was born on July 10, 1932, in San Francisco and was given the name Barbara Anne by her parents, Camille Anne McCarthy and Earle Lester Baxter, who were of English-Irish descent.
Sister Anne attended public grade schools in San Francisco and in Barstow in the Mojave Desert from first grade through sixth. She met the Adrian Dominicans at Holy Cross School in Santa Cruz, where she completed her elementary and secondary education.
She entered the postulate in June 1949 and the following December received the habit and her religious name Sister Amata Marie. A year later, she made first profession and began the first phase of her ministry as an elementary teacher.

Clarification from my previous post..Camille ANN (Baxter) McCarthy Sister Ann's mother, was my mom Cecile Mary McCarthys sister from Petaluma.
My name is Robert Quinn from San Francisco . Sister Mary Amata Marie (Ann) is my First cousin too. My Mother was Cecile Mary McCarthy. She had 3 sisters Camille, Doris and Era. All were born in Petaluma, Ca.Sister (Ann) as my mother referred to her, was a beautiful lady and was very good to me as a young boy.Although I was a little( gun shy) excuse the expression , of her because I was in a catholic school at that time and I was afraid of the nuns. ha. Anyway, I wanted to be acknowledged as her cousin because I liked her. I was not mentioned in this write up.God bless you AnnBob
We were sorry to hear about the passing of Sister Ann. Our condolences to theAdrian Dominican Sisters and family.A Mass will be said at St Pius X in Pueblo, Colorado
I am very grateful for the life of Anne Baxter, for her friendship and for the many things I learned about the Enneagram from her. When I was in the Mission Group with her I appreciated the times we had to share life. She was a very humble person. Whenever I would invite her to come to give a presentation about the Enneagram to a group with whom I ministered she always said she was not an expert. I will miss her presence with us and her wonderful smile.
Our Adrian Dominican cemetery with its circular headstones is a beautiful place of rest for women who gave their lives in service to God — and a peaceful place for contemplation and remembrance.
