Sister Judith Ann Lieder, OP

(1933 - 2015)
Sister Judith Ann Lieder was born on May 26, 1933, in Detroit. She was the second of four children born to Leonard and Clara (Polakowski) Lieder: Rosemary, the first born who lived only a few hours, then Gerald and Marlene.

Her father was a native of Detroit and her mother was from Everson, Pennsylvania. They met when her mother came to Detroit to find a job. They married, made their home in Detroit and were members of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish. Sister Judy and her siblings attended the parish elementary school with the Sylvania Franciscans.

Judy was in my Mission Group. Her peace-filled, gentle way of expressing her opinions made people ready listeners! We will always save that corner chair at our meetings. Also, the Tigers most definitely will continue to need her support. I love you Judy and I thank you for sharing your gifts with us. Now Marlene and Judy can enjoy their new life together!

I was privileged to have been taught by Sr. Augusta and then Sr. Judy. Always my favorite and so special to me in my school years. I reconnected with her 4 years ago after my dad passed. I still have her letter. Will cherish that because I know that my family had a special place in her heart. And she will always have a special place in mine. Rest peacefully Sister.
