I committed my life to Catholic Education to focus on making a difference in the lives of children.
(1937-2015) Mary Catherine Evans, known to her friends as Mary Kay, was also known as Sister Edward Catherine. She was born on July 23, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, the second of five children born to Charles and Gertrude (McBride) Evans. Both parents were born in Ohio: Gertrude in Logan and Charles in Nelsonville.

I was happy to come upon this link honoring Sr. Edward Catherine. She was my second grade teacher at St. Philip Neri (Chicago) in 1962-63. Her expectations for excellence and maximizing one’s own potential inspired me to enter the profession of education, where I served for 20 years. God bless you, Sister, and your wonderful sisters in faith.
Aunt Mary Kay as she was affectionately called was a wonderful soul with a quick wit! As the oldest nephew/niece I enjoyed her company longer than most, and both later lived in the Los Angeles outlining area. I only received love and affection from her. She was an Educator and Leader, but mostly, she could have a real conversation with anyone because she was a great listener. God Bless Aunt Mary Kay!
May Sr. Mary Kay rest in peace, knowing how much her life painted our own with kindness.
Our Adrian Dominican cemetery with its circular headstones is a beautiful place of rest for women who gave their lives in service to God — and a peaceful place for contemplation and remembrance.
