Sister Patricia (Mary Dennine) Reno, OP

(1938-2024)

Sister Patricia “Pat” Reno, formerly known as Sister Mary Dennine, died on Friday, April 5, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was 86 years of age and in the 66th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
 
Sister Patricia was born in Detroit to William and Madeline (LeGere) Reno. She graduated from Visitation High School in Detroit and obtained a bachelor’s degree in history from Barry College (University) in Miami, Florida, and a master’s degree in management from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
 
Sister Patricia spent 12 years ministering in education in Miami Beach, Miami Shores, and West Palm Beach, Florida, including five years as a high school teacher and treasurer at Rosarian Academy, a legacy institution of the Adrian Dominican Sisters in West Palm Beach. She served the Congregation for five years: two years as a staff member in the Finance Office in Adrian and, later, three years as provincial administrator for Immaculate Conception Province in Detroit.
 
She also ministered four years as business manager at Marian High School, Birmingham, Michigan; 13 years as director of financial services at St. Joseph Villa, Richmond, Virginia; two years as treasurer for the Sisters of Divine Providence, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; six years as director of finance for the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Nazareth, Kentucky; and six years as finance and business manager for the Thomas Merton Foundation, Louisville, Kentucky. At the time of her death, she had been executive director at the Centro Latino of Shelbyville, Inc., in Shelbyville, Kentucky, for almost 16 years.
 
Sister was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Michael Reno and William Reno. She is survived by her beloved companion, Annette Bender of Shelbyville, Kentucky; Kathleen Reno (Thomas Payette) and Maddie Reno (Paul Weber), all of Louisville, Kentucky; Dennis Reno (Ollie Ladd) of Kensington, California; Molly Reno (Saunterre Irish) of Berkeley, California; Terry Reno (Patrick Hayes) of Lansing, Michigan; other loving family members; and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.
 
A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The Rite of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery. A Rite of Remembrance will be held at 1:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in the Rose Room of the Dominican Life Center. Both the Funeral Mass and the Rite of Remembrance will be livestreamed at https://adriandominicans.org/live-stream.
