Sister Joan Leo, one of two 2015 recipients of the Lifetime Catechetical Leadership Award, is featured in an article on the archdiocese’s  37th Annual Catechetical (religious education) Conference, held October 24 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. A 60-year Jubilarian, Sister Joan has been involved in catechesis throughout her ministerial life, and is currently co-director of religious education at St. Gregory School in Plantation, Florida. Sister Linda, President of Barry University in Miami Shores, was featured in her blog, Barry and Me, Sister Linda describes the University’s year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary in the 2015-2016 academic year. In addition, she writes of her own long-time relationship with Barry, from her attendance as a student to two separate periods of service at Barry and finally, since 2004, her service as President of the University. November 9, 2015, Santa Sabina, Rome, Italy – Dominican Father Bruno Cadoré, Master of the Order, formally kicked off the Jubilee Year marking the 800th anniversary of the Order of Preachers with a special address to the Dominican family from Santa Sabina, the church in Rome where St. Dominic rooted his order’s preaching mission in 1216. The Jubilee Year began November 7, 2015, the Feast of All Dominican Saints, and will conclude on January 21, 2017. 

“For [St. Dominic]  to go and preach meant, as is shown in the mosaic of Santa Sabina, to preach unity: unity between the circumcised and the gentiles, unity among those who believe and those who do not believe, the unity of all, because all are capable of the same communion,” Father Cadoré said in his message.
