What's Happening

September 9, 2019, Adrian, Michigan – Enjoy dinner and a discussion of Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha’s book, What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City. Weber Center’s popular Dine and Discuss evening is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2019.

In her book, Dr. Hanna-Attisha reveals her discovery of the lead in the drinking water of Flint, Michigan, and gives background on how misguided austerity policies, broken democracy, and callous bureaucratic indifference placed the people of Flint, Michigan at risk.

The $15 cost includes the book and dinner, as well as the opportunity to discuss the book with other interested participants. Register now and pick up your book at Weber Center so that you will have ample time to read this dramatic and eye-opening book.

August 26, 2019, Adrian, Michigan — Weber Retreat and Conference Center continues its popular Lunch and Learn Series with a variety of topics. The free series, open to the public, is from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Weber Center’s Common Room.

Registration is not required, and all are welcome. Bring your lunch and enjoy drinks and desserts provided by Weber Center.

The fall schedule for Lunch and Learn is as follows:

• Tips and Tricks for your iPad and iPhone – Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Brad McCullar, Director of Technology for the Adrian Dominican Sisters, and his team explore the hidden capacities of your electronic devices.
  
  
• A View from the Bench – Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Retired Judge Margaret Noe shares her experiences as a Lenawee County Circuit Court Judge.
  
  
• Suicide Awareness – Tuesday, November 12, 2019. A staff member of the Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority speaks about the warning signs, prevention, and intervention of suicide. 
  
  
• Tips and Recipes for Great Christmas Candy – Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Adrian Dominican Sisters Joy Finfera, OP, Loretta May, OP, and Phyllis Kreiner, OP, share their secrets to making sweet treats for Christmas.
