October 16, 2019, Las Vegas, Nevada – Sisters, priests, and chaplains at the San Martin Campus of Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospitals – along with Diocese of Las Vegas Bishop George Leo Thomas – honored first responders on September 27, 2019. First responders were blessed; received medallions of St. Michael the Archangel, patron saint of those who protect the lives of others; and were treated to lunch. The annual event, held around the September 29 Feast of St. Michael, also anticipated the second anniversary of the tragic October 1, 2017, mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed 58 people. St. Rose Dominican Hospitals received and treated for free many of those who were wounded on that day.
