Wilmette, Illinois – The Adrian Dominican Sisters are committed to their sponsored institutions and the integration of the Dominican charism and the Mission of the Adrian Dominican Sisters with that of the institution, such as the Regina Dominican Mission. Through the Adrian Dominican sponsored institutions the work of preaching the Good News is proclaimed by those who share in our ministry.
“Regina Dominican is dedicated to integrating the Dominican charism and the Adrian Dominican Vision and Mission into the life of the school,” said Sister Mary Margaret Pachucki, OP, President. “And so it is with great joy we welcome Sister Mary Jean Williams, OP, as the director of our newly established Office of Mission Integration.”
As the Director of Mission Integration, Sister Jean will promote an understanding of the Mission and Vision of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and their model of sponsorship. She will guide the school community in the enhancement, promotion, and integration of the mission, vision and core values of Regina Dominican throughout our school community.
The following is Sister Jean’s response.
I am delighted to join the Regina Dominican High School staff as Director of Mission Integration. In response to an invitation from Sister Attracta Kelly, our Prioress, I visited Regina Dominican in the spring and was impressed with the faith formation and spiritual experiences, the emphasis on academic excellence, the offerings for leadership, and the many extracurricular opportunities which were available to the young women.
This visit brought back many memories of my high school days at Aquinas Dominican. The Dominican charism, the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community, and service, and mottos of the Dominican Order are a lived reality at Regina Dominican. After visiting for one day, I knew I wanted to be a part of this wonderful school community.
I am excited about supporting the many educational partners at Regina as we integrate the Mission of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and Regina Dominican Mission to foster academic excellence, truth, peace, and justice while challenging each student to develop leadership for life and respect for all races, cultures, and faiths.
Regina Dominican Awarded Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation Grant
Regina Dominican received $22,000 from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation (ICECF) and rebates from ComEd for energy upgrades to campus lighting systems. Led by contractors from Windy City Lighting, the facility improvements made possible by this grant will improve lighting quality on campus, save money, and decrease Regina Dominican’s environmental footprint.
By replacing existing fixtures with light-emitting diode, or LED, systems, Regina Dominican expects improved visibility and functionality of campus lights around building exteriors, parking lots and in the O’Shaughnessy Theater. The transition is expected to save Regina Dominican about $10,200 in energy costs and 85,698 kWh annually.
These lighting upgrades are among several capital projects recently completed at Regina Dominican as part of its Gateway to Leadership Campaign launched in 2013. With the philanthropic investment goal of $4 million, this campaign has raised funds to complete a full remodel of the school’s cafeteria, begin planning for a front entrance reconstruction as well as other endeavors.
The ICECF was established in 1999 as an independent foundation with a $225 million endowment provided by Commonwealth Edison. The organization’s mission is to improve energy efficiency, advance the development and use of renewable energy resources, and protect natural areas and wildlife habitat in communities all across Illinois by providing financial support for clean energy investments.
