What is National Vocation Awareness Week?

National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW) is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to consecrated life and ordained ministry through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for women and men who are considering one of these vocations. This year, we celebrate NVAW November 6-12, 2022.

Observance of Vocation Awareness Week began in 1976 when the U.S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for the celebration. In 2014, the Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations moved the observance of National Vocation Awareness Week to November to encourage participation from Catholic schools and colleges in this effort.

¿Qué es la Semana Nacional por las Vocaciones? 

La Semana Nacional de Concienciación Vocacional (NVAW) es una celebración anual de una semana de duración de la Iglesia Católica en los Estados Unidos dedicada a promover las vocaciones a la vida consagrada y al ministerio sacerdotal a través de la oración y la educación, y a continuar apoyando a las mujeres y hombres que están considerando una de estas vocaciones.

La Semana de Concienciación Vocacional se inició en 1976 cuando los obispos de los Estados Unidos designaron el 28º domingo del año para su celebración. En 2014, el Comité de Clero, Vida Consagrada y Vocaciones trasladó la celebración a noviembre para alentar la participación de las escuelas y colegios católicos.
