Sometimes when I pray with the daily Scripture readings and come to a familiar excerpt, I like to read how other translations express the same excerpt. Such was a reading this week. I share the alternate translation with you here and invite you to take time in the next few days to ponder how this Word speaks to your heart.

In a conversation with Jesus, a young man searching for what it meant to be “good” honestly told Jesus, "I've done all that [kept the Commandments]. What's left?" 

“Jesus then honestly replied, ‘If you want to give it all you've got, go sell your possessions; give everything to the poor. All your wealth will then be in heaven. Then come follow me.’ That was the last thing the young man expected to hear. And so, crestfallen, he walked away. He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and he couldn't bear to let go.” (Matthew 19:16-22, The Message translation)

Aferrándose Fuertemente

Algunas veces, cuando oro con las lecturas diarias de las Escrituras y leo una Escritura conocida, me gusta leer cómo otras traducciones expresan la misma Escritura. Así sucedió con una Escritura esta semana. Comparto la traducción alternativa con ustedes aquí y las invito a tomarse un tiempo en los próximos días para reflexionar sobre cómo esta Palabra le habla a su corazón.

En una conversación con Jesús, un joven que buscaba lo que significaba ser "bueno" le dijo honestamente a Jesús: "He hecho todo eso [guardo Los Mandamientos]. ¿Qué queda?"

“Entonces Jesús respondió honestamente: 'Si quieres dar todo de ti, ve y vende tus posesiones; dalo todo a los pobres. Entonces toda tu riqueza estará en el cielo. Luego, ven y sígueme.' Eso fue lo último que el joven esperaba escuchar. Y así, cabizbajo, se fue. Se aferraba con fuerza a muchas cosas y no podía soportar soltarlas." (Mateo 19:16-22, La traducción De Mensaje)
