Life is full of decision-making and during my busy day working at a university there are always decisions to made. Some are of the “Just Do It” variety, borrowing the Nike™ phrase. Not a lot of thought is needed, it just needs to get done. So, I or one of my team members just gets it done. Other decisions require a little thought – where to hang a picture or what color to paint a room? A little more work needs to be done for these decisions.

The biggest decisions are the life growth ones, decisions that impact my future. Before I became a Sister, these decisions evolved around job or relationship choices. As a Sister, it is usually about choosing to answer the call to a particular ministry. These are decisions I ask God for help with and most of the time, I need quiet and whenever possible to be out in nature. Sitting amongst the trees, feeling the breeze on my face, or watching a turtle swim along the water, allows me to focus on my breathing and listen to my heart. The answer doesn’t always come while I am sitting there, but God’s calming presence is there and soon enough the answer comes.

Escuchando al Corazón

La vida está llena de momentos en que se tienen que hacer decisiones y durante mi ajetreado día de trabajo en la universidad siempre hay decisiones que se tienen que tomar. Algunas son de la variedad "Just Do It" (Solo hazlo), tomando prestada la frase de Nike™. No se necesita pensar mucho, solo hay que hacerlo. Así que, yo o uno de los miembros de mi equipo lo hacemos. Otras decisiones requieren un poco de reflexión, ¿dónde colgar un cuadro o de qué color pintar un cuarto? Se necesita hacer un poco más de trabajo para estas decisiones.

Las decisiones más importantes son las del crecimiento de la vida, decisiones que impactan mi futuro. Antes de convertirme en Hermana, estas decisiones tenian que ver con opciones laborales o de relaciones. Como hermana, generalmente se trata de elegir responder al llamado a un ministerio en particular. Estas son decisiones con las que le pido ayuda a Dios y la mayor parte del tiempo necesito tranquilidad y, siempre que sea posible, estar en la naturaleza. Sentarme entre los árboles, sentir la brisa en la cara o ver una tortuga nadar en el agua me permite concentrarme en mi respiración y escuchar mi corazón. La respuesta no siempre llega mientras estoy sentada allí, pero la presencia tranquilizadora de Dios está ahí y muy pronto llega la respuesta.
