Summer in the Northern Hemisphere is a fruitful time to be discerning what – and who – is calling me into the future. When everything outside is green or in bloom, it’s easier to imagine what might be trying to come to fruition in my life. The beauty and fullness of everything in sight is one way God captures our attention and invites us to pay attention.

If you picture yourself helping others, making a contribution to those who are poor, or working on projects for healing Earth, or teaching those who need education, or healing people who need to be restored to good health, think about it. Likewise, when you see a backyard garden or walk a trail through the forest, picture a variety of companions on such a journey of service that living in a community might offer you.

As you move about during these months, why not picture yourself as part of the broader creation and take the time to ask yourself if these activities attract you. A primary part of the life of a Sister is to be about service, to be about the kinds of things Jesus did while he walked the land with us. We are offering a Come and See Retreat to interested young women this October 14-16 here in Adrian to help you focus on your gifts and assist with listening to the inner call of your heart. La Naturaleza como Lugar de Discernimiento

El verano en el Hemisferio Norte es un momento fructífero para discernir qué – y quién – me llama al futuro. Cuando todo afuera está verde o en flor, es más fácil imaginar lo que podría estar tratando de dar frutos en mi vida. La belleza y la plenitud de todo lo que está a la vista es una forma en que Dios capta nuestra atención y nos invita a prestar atención.

Si se imagina ayudando a otras, haciendo una contribución a los pobres o trabajando en proyectos para sanar la Tierra o enseñando a los que necesitan educación o sanando a las personas que necesitan recuperar la salud, piénselo. Del mismo modo, cuando vea un jardín en el patio o camine por el bosque, imagine una variedad de compañeras en ese viaje de servicio que podría ofrecerle vivir en una comunidad.

Mientras se mueva durante estos meses, ¿por qué no se imagina como parte de una creación más amplia y se toma el tiempo para preguntarse si estas actividades le atraen? Una parte primordial de la vida de una hermana es ser de servicio, ser como las clases de cosas que Jesús hacia mientras caminaba por la tierra con nosotras. Estamos ofreciendo un Retiro Ven y Ve para mujeres jóvenes que esten interesadas del 14 al 16 de Octubre aquí en Adrian para ayudarle enfocarse en sus dones y ayudarle a escuchar el llamado interno de su corazón.
