One of the blessings I have in my life as a Sister is that I get to go away for a week on retreat every year. During this time, I will have the opportunity to really take time to listen to God, without the distractions of email, work, or videos on the internet. This was also an opportunity that the students I worked with at the high school where I ministered would receive. Each of the classes has an opportunity each week to go on retreat every year with each other. I was always amazed to watch the freshmen when they began the retreat and at the end of the day. Retreats are always about our relationships with others, both with fellow retreatants and with God. 

Even if it isn’t possible to go away for a week-long retreat, or even a weekend, it is possible to take some of the principles of a retreat and integrate them into your life. Take a Saturday or another day when you don’t have work or school, and take (scheduling if you need to) a couple of hours away from distractions (whether that’s TikTok, Instagram, or email), and take some time to get in touch with God, whether by journaling or a walk in a park. I hope that the time you take to connect with God bears great fruit!

Tomarse el tiempo con Dios

Una de las bendiciones que tengo en mi vida como Hermana es que puedo ir por una semana de retiro todos los años. Durante este tiempo, tengo la oportunidad de tomarme un tiempo para escuchar a Dios, sin las distracciones del correo electrónico, el trabajo o los videos en el Internet. Esto también es una oportunidad que reciben los estudiantes con los que trabajo en la escuela secundaria donde ministro. Cada una de las clases tiene la oportunidad de ir a un retiro cada año por una semana. Siempre me sorprende ver a los estudiantes de primer año cuando comienzan el retiro y al final del día. Los retiros siempre se tratan de nuestras relaciones con los demás, tanto con los compañeros de retiro como con Dios.

Si no es posible irse a un retiro de una semana, o un fin de semana, sí es posible tomar algunas de las enseñanzas de un retiro e integrarlas en su vida. Tómese un Sábado u otro día cuando no tenga trabajo o escuela, y tómese (prográmelo si es necesario) un par de horas lejos de las distracciones (ya sea TikTok, Instagram o correo electrónico), y tómese un tiempo para ponerse en contacto con Dios, ya sea escribiendo en un diario o dando un paseo por un parque. ¡Espero que el tiempo que dedique a conectarse con Dios dé grandes frutos!
