In a busy week my desktop gets covered with papers, notes, and booklets from meetings and events I have attended. When the stacks get to me, I stop and take time to sort papers, filing some, discarding others. Discerning where God is calling us is something like this.

Today life offers young women many choices of how to live a meaningful life, one that helps others while knowing you are connecting with God’s call in your heart. It’s helpful to write in a journal while trying to sort your options, if not every day, then as regularly as possible.

Much like the stacks on my desk, a journal can help rank our myriad of choices, listing the pros and cons of each one. Putting pen to paper helps us connect to the heart of the matter, be honest with ourselves, and trust that God will work through the pen to help us discover where our heart desires us to give our lives. Journaling is an invaluable tool to hold our reflections and feelings about our visits to various communities to see if there is a “fit” for us.

Demasiadas Preguntas

En una semana ocupada mi escritorio se llena de papeles, notas y folletos de reuniones y eventos a los que he asistido. Cuando ya no soporto ver las pilas de papeles, me detengo y me tomo un tiempo para clasificar papeles, archivar algunos y desechar otros. Discernir dónde nos está llamando Dios es algo así.

Hoy en día, la vida ofrece a las mujeres jóvenes muchas opciones sobre cómo vivir una vida significativa, una que ayude a los demás sabiendo que se está conectando con el llamado de Dios en su corazón. Es útil escribir en un diario mientras trate de clasificar sus opciones, si no todos los días, con la mayor regularidad posible.

Al igual que las pilas en mi escritorio, un diario puede ayudar a clasificar nuestras múltiples opciones, enumerando los pros y los contras de cada una. Poner la pluma al papel nos ayuda a conectarnos a lo que cuenta, ser honestas con nosotras mismas y confiar en que Dios trabajará a través de la pluma para ayudarnos a descubrir dónde desea nuestro corazón que demos nuestra vida. Escribir en un diario es una herramienta invaluable para mantener nuestras reflexiones y sentimientos sobre nuestras visitas a varias comunidades para ver si hay algo que “encaje” para nosotras.
