One of the best parts of summer is that there is more time to pick up some books that I have been meaning to read for a while. Some of those books will be fiction that doesn’t make me think too hard, but which allow me for, at least a few hours, to immerse myself in another world. Other books are about subjects that interest me, such as history, while other books are for my ministry, including the books I’m reading for a course I’m taking this summer. However, I do always try to have some books that help me to understand my relationship to God. At various times, this has meant reading everything from poems by Mary Oliver, Thich Nhat Hanh, or William A. Barry’s book A Friendship Like No Other or the writings of Catherine of Siena. What each of these writings do is invite me into another perspective of how we are called into relationship with God, and, in doing so, helps me to learn more about who God is, and how I can share what I know of God with the world.

¿Qué hay en su lista de "Para ser leído"?

Una de las mejores partes del verano es que hay más tiempo para recoger algunos libros que he querido leer por un tiempo. Algunos de esos libros serán de ficción que no me harán pensar mucho, pero que me permitan, al menos unas horas, sumergirme en otro mundo. Otros libros tratarán sobre temas que me interesan, como la historia, mientras que otros libros son para mi ministerio, incluyendo los libros que estoy leyendo para un curso que voy a tomar este verano. Sin embargo, siempre trato de tener algunos libros que me ayuden a comprender mi relación con Dios. En varias ocasiones, esto ha significado leer poemas de Mary Oliver, Thich Nhat Hanh o el libro de William A. Barry, A Friendship Like No Other (Una Amistad Como Ninguna Otra) o los escritos de Catalina de Siena. Lo que hace cada uno de estos escritos es invitarme a otra perspectiva de cómo somos llamadas a una relación con Dios y, al hacerlo, me ayuda a aprender más acerca de quién es Dios y cómo puedo compartir lo que sé de Dios con el mundo.
