October 26, 2022, West Palm Beach, Florida – Rosarian Academy awarded its inaugural Adrian Dominican Legacy Scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year to eighth grade student Orion Vincent.

In recognition of the founders of the 97-year-old school, Rosarian Academy awards this full-cost of tuition scholarship to a student or students based on merit and need. Any student entering grades two through eight in the Palm Beach County area who excels academically and exhibits strong moral character is eligible to apply.

In keeping with the mission of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, this scholarship places an emphasis on diversity. Guided by the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community, and service, Rosarian Academy sought to reward a student who embodied its core characteristics with this scholarship, and Orion Vincent proved to be an apt choice.

“I am honored and grateful for having been chosen for this award,” Orion said. “After several years of homeschooling, I wanted to do well at Rosarian Academy. I made good grades a priority, and it paid off with straight As.”

Orion’s focus on his academics has continued to pay dividends. He was recently inducted into the Rosarian Academy Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, which requires a minimum grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale, as well as exemplary leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

Over the summer, a song written by Orion won the Music Award in the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians and Jews’ annual Essay and Creative Arts Student Contest. Orion was also chosen for October as the Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach’s Student of the Month, in recognition of his academic achievement as well as many contributions to the school and community.

An accomplished musician, Orion plays the guitar in the Rosarian Academy band, which performs during Mass and special occasions such as the Rosarian Academy Christmas shows. His creative talents also extend to the stage and screen. Orion operated the sound equipment for Rosarian Academy’s fall production of Frozen, Jr.

“I filmed and edited the ‘Toys for Tots’ commercial for Rosarian last Christmas because I thought that kids should have plenty of toys to celebrate with,” Orion said. “I help my neighbors when I can because it makes me feel good to be useful. I didn’t do any of it expecting that I would get a reward.”

Orion has proven to be a model student and an invaluable member of the school community. He has been a member of the tennis, swim, and basketball teams; frequents service opportunities such as beach cleanups and gleaning for the local food bank; and was elected as the Student Council Historian in the spring.

“I hope this year continues to provide me with opportunities to use and grow my skills while helping others,” Orion said. “In all I do, I plan to carry on the tradition of prayer, study, service, and community. With these traits serving as my foundation, I hope to make my family and the Rosarian community proud today and in the future.”

Rosarian Academy, founded in 1925, educates students from early childhood through eighth grade and offers an exceptionally strong academic program enriched by athletics, visual and performing arts, and community service opportunities. The independent, Catholic school is located in downtown West Palm Beach and is sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
